Values
Understand what makes Scrum work.
Scrum is not only events, artifacts, and accountabilities. The values and empirical foundations shape how Scrum Teams think, collaborate, inspect, and improve.
Scrum Values
Scrum is grounded in five values: Commitment, Focus, Openness, Respect, and Courage.
Commitment
Commitment means the Scrum Team dedicates itself to achieving its goals and supporting each other.
Focus
Focus means concentrating on the work of the Sprint and the goals of the Scrum Team.
Openness
Openness means being honest and transparent about work, progress, problems, and learning.
Respect
Respect means team members value each other as capable, independent people.
Courage
Courage means doing the right thing, speaking honestly, and working on difficult problems.
Empiricism
Empiricism means knowledge comes from experience and decisions are based on what is observed.
Transparency
Transparency means important information is visible and understood by the people involved.
Inspection
Inspection means frequently checking progress, work, and outcomes to detect important differences.
Adaptation
Adaptation means adjusting work, plans, or approach when inspection shows change is needed.
