Increment

Official Artifact

The Increment is a usable piece of the product created during a Sprint.

Plain English explanation

The Increment is the actual result of the team’s work. It must be usable and meet the Definition of Done.

What it means

An Increment is not partial work. It is a complete and usable product slice.

Why it matters

Real progress is measured by usable outcomes, not completed tasks.

How it works

Each Sprint produces one or more Increments. They combine with previous work to create a growing product.

Key idea

If it is not usable, it is not an Increment.

Key points

  • Must be usable
  • Meets Definition of Done
  • Builds on previous work
  • Represents real progress
